The Address Downtown Dubai hotel near the worlds tallest building ( Burj Khalifa) was gutted by fire this evening. At least 16 people were injured after a huge blaze broke out from the 20th floor of the hotel. This happened hours before New Year’s Eve fireworks is supposed to start at the nearby Burj Khalifa. Guests at the hotel have been evacuated and fortunately no life was lost even though the fire spread very quickly. A witness said it went from just a small fire at the foot of the building, shot up to the middle and the top of the building in five minutes.

 A Malaysian high court this morning Dec. 28th sentenced a 37 year old Nigerian man identified as Ekene Collins Isaac to death by hanging after he was found guilty of trafficking 915.6 grammes of methamphetamine three years ago in Malaysia.  Court papers showed that Collins who was a cleaner in Nigeria, committed the offence at t Wad 6C, Serdang Hospital, at Jalan Puchong, Kajang, between 7.20 a.m. on March 3, 2012 and 1.00 p.m. on March 5 of the same year. The banned drugs were found inside his body.

A teenage girl died on Boxing Day after her dad accidentally shot her in the face with a gun he thought wasn’t loaded. Kaitlyn Pullam, 17, died two days after her family made the heartbreaking decision to switch off her life support machine on Christmas Eve. The youngster was shot on December 20 at her home in Ohio. Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs told KFVS news her father thought the gun was not loaded and it went off by mistake. Cops found Kaitlyn in her bedroom unresponsive and a what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to her face.
