Photos from the fatal acident on Benin-Okada Expressway

A white commercial bus was involved in an accident along the Benin Okada expressway and went up in flames. The driver of the vehicle died instantly and was burnt beyond recognition. Only two of the passengers (a mother and her baby) survived the accident but were badly burnt.

Eye witnesses at the scene said they heard cries of some of the passengers trapped but could not help them due to the heat of the fire.

Five Fresh Lassa Fever Cases Confirmed In Plateau

Dr. Kuden Kamshak, the Plateau State Commissioner for Health, has confirmed that five cases of Lassa fever have been detected in Jos, the state capital. However, he said that the patients were responding to treatment. He said: “So far, we have only five cases and they are responding to treatment. We have advised doctors not to keep patients for so long in the hospital to avoid contact and spread.”

Earthquake Shakes Afghanistan, Pakistan And India

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck northeast Afghanistan near the country’s borders with Pakistan and Tajikistan, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS), with tremors being felt as far as New Delhi. The USGS said Saturday morning’s earthquake, initially reported as magnitude 6.4, was at a depth of 203km and centred 82km southeast of the town of Feyzabad, capital of the Afghan province of Badakhshan.
